After one particular point, especially when nearing the end, you, as a writer, don't have as much freedom as in the beginning.
The most important (and very very hard) thing to do for any ending is not to let it go into that strange, disappointing reality, causing a WTF factor for the audience. And, in my experience, this can happen easier, than one would think.
